Improving the quality of life for children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS through enriching programs, unforgettable experiences, and connections with the community.

Launched in 2015, the Transition to Adulthood Program helps teens living with or affected by HIV/AIDS get ready for life after high school. We focus on building confidence and important skills so participants can become successful and independent young adults.


What Teens Learn

Our program helps youth:

  • Explore different college and career options

  • Learn how to apply for school, training programs, or jobs

  • Complete important enrollment steps

  • Create strong resumes

  • Practice interview skills and learn how to keep a job

  • Build life and independent living skills


Program Activities

To support their growth, we offer:

  • Career fairs

  • Professional site visits

  • Resume and interview workshops

  • An annual retreat

  • College tours

  • Personal development classes

This program is offered free of charge to all eligible applicants who are admitted.


Eligibility Criteria

• Must be thirteen (13) years of age or older. (For retreat only)

• Must have HIV/AIDS or:

  1. have an immediate family member who is living with HIV/AIDS (i.e., mother, father, brother, or sister),
  2. have an immediate family member who has died from HIV/AIDS-related complications, 
  3. live with an extended family member (i.e. grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle or cousin) who is living with HIV/AIDS.

• Must be or have been enrolled in at least one H.E.R.O. program, or be referred by a Case Manager or other medical/social service professional.

• Must submit a copy of most recent academic/progress report (if applicable).
